Another computer problem in the world order. This one is a bit different as I had to solve one of my own computer related problems. I recently installed OBS studio on a Hewlett Packard Pavilion X360 laptop.
Also, I am using MX Linux on this laptop. MX Linux is a Debian distribution derivation. I noticed when recording videos, that the colors did NOT look right.
At first I thought perhaps it was a hardware related graphics problem. However, OBS Studio was the only application I noticed the color problem. In order to fix this issue you want to go into your “Sources” in OBS Studio.
The source I think that was causing this problem perhaps was a web browser. Also, it could be that that is where you have to make the change that fixes this OBS Studio recording color problem. Click the “Properties” gear icon on a source.
Under the “Crop” settings look for a check box next to “Swap red and blue”. Place a check in this box with your mouse and then click on “OK” to save those settings. This immediately fixed this OBS Studio recording color problem, as I noticed the colors were fixed in studio mode.
I performed a test video recording and the recording color problem had been fixed. I have used OBS Studio for 3 to 4 years now and have never seen this problem crop up, no pun intended, before. Also, I have used two other desktop computers to record videos and neither computer had this issue.
I am not sure if it is a problem with the graphics processor on this laptop, a problem with MX Linux, or a problem with OBS Studio. All I know is that I found the solution to one of my own computer problems. This one was kind of an obscure computer problem, but I was much relieved to have fixed this issue.
I can now record videos with this laptop pretty much anywhere now. These instructions were written for a Hewlett Packard Pavilion X360 laptop with MX Linux 18.3 installed. Also, the version of OBS Studio is 23.1.0 64 bit.
These instructions could certainly be used for possibly other operating systems like Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh and Linux with this same OBS Studio recording color problem. As long as OBS Studio has a “Swap red and blue” properties setting you could potentially fix this problem, even on other Linux distributions.

Download and install the Epson WF-3640 printer software. When it comes to troubleshooting printers, one of the first questions I ask or try to answer is where is the printer error appearing on. Is the error displayed on the printer itself, your computer or both.
In this instance the “Communication error. Check if the computer is connected” error message appeared on the liquid crystal display of the printer. This individual tried some troubleshooting of their own, by disconnecting and reconnecting the Universal Serial Bus cable.
My additional tip is to disconnect the Universal Serial Bus cable from both the printer and the computer. Some times just disconnecting the printer cable in this manner will fix printing problems. Also, as an added bonus tip, you can follow these instructions.
Power off your Epson printer. Disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet. Disconnect the Universal Serial Bus printer cable from both your printer and computer.
Press and hold the power button on your printer for 30-60 seconds. Leave your Epson printer disconnected from any power source for 5-10 minutes. Reconnect the Universal Serial Bus cable and power cable to your printer.
Power on your printer and see if it will now print. Printers can be real finicky and a pain in the ass at times. However, these three tips I gave you often times fixes printer problems.
Also, paying attention to where the actual error, if any is given, appears can be a hint in your printer troubleshooting. One additional bonus tip is on Macintosh operating system, you can just drag the printer folder in this case, Epson, to the trash can to remove the software from “Applications”. Some times printer software installs do not include a removal tool or when you run them the do not properly remove the printer software.
Also, you may want to empty the trash can after dragging the Epson folder. I have noticed on at least one occasion where emptying the trash can fixed a problem, where each time I went to reinstall the printer software, the same old problem occurred. What fixed this endless loop, was emptying the Macintosh operating system trash can.
Computers can be real finicky and weird at times. Hopefully, you were able to fix your Epson communication error problem. These instructions were written for a Macintosh computer with Macintosh operating system Sierra 10.12 installed for an Epson WF-3640 printer.
However, you can use these instructions and tips as a basis point for troubleshooting the same or similar error on different brand and model printers, even on Linux and Microsoft operating systems.

If you do not know your Service Set Identifier and password, you can log into your wireless router to obtain and or set these two items.
Many new wireless routers have default Service Set Identifier’s and passwords already configured for you. You could just use those or set your own. Once you have this information you would need to enter this information into your printer.
Most new printers have Liquid Crystal Displays so that you can navigate your printers networking configuration. Another item you need to accomplish is to make certain that your Macintosh, wireless printer, and wireless router are all on the same sub network. For example if your printer’s Internet Protocol address is 10.0.0.2, then you would want your Macintosh to have an Internet Protocol address of 10.0.0.3.
Your Macintosh must be on the same sub network as your wireless printer so that they can communicate with each other. Also, you can give your printer a static Internet Protocol address or use a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol address. A static address never changes hence the term “static”.
Once your printer successfully obtains an Internet Protocol address, then you should be able to print. However, this individual owned a Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 4650 printer and must install some software. If you own this same exact printer and are using Macintosh Sierra 10.12 operating system, then you can download and install the printer software.
Please do NOT connect the printer to your Macintosh computer until the installation program instructs you to. Hewlett Packard printer installs can be quite lengthy, so you might want to become patient. As long as you connected your printer to your wireless router successfully, then the installation program should detect your printer on your local network.
The Hewlett Packard printer installation will then begin installing the printer driver and possibly additional printer software. Hopefully, now you should be able to print and scan. Whenever you are not able to install a printer via a CD-ROM or DVD you most likely will be able to download the driver and or software for your printer. This individual owned a Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 4630 printer. Also, they were using an Ematic tablet computer with Microsoft Windows 10 operating installed.
Download and install the Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 4630 printer software from the following link. Please do NOT connect the printer to your computer until instructed to do so by the software installation. Once you download that software to your computer you just double click it to begin the printer installation.
My experiences with Hewlett Packard printer installs, is to NOT connect your printer to your computer first. In this instance a tablet computer without a CD-ROM optical drive. You want to wait until the installation prompts you to connect your printer to your computer.
If you connect your printer to your computer first, Microsoft Windows operating system will attempt to load a default printer driver that may or may not work. Also, when you try to install the Hewlett Packard printer driver, the installation gets confused as it detects a driver already installed. The printer installation program may or may not install the correct original equipment manufacture printer driver.
This may cause you to not be able to print, even after installing the correct driver. You will be prompted to select how you want to connect your printer to your computer. You will have two or three choices, USB cable, Ethernet, or Wireless.
This individual had a wireless printer. You want to make certain that you have connected your wireless printer to your wireless router network. You will need to know your SSID and password. Once you have successfully connected your Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 4630 to your wireless router network, you will be able to print to it.
Hewlett Packard printer installs are notoriously slow according to my own experiences as a real world computer technician. I would allow at least 30 minutes to an hour for the installation of the software to complete. Once the Hewlett Packard printer installation detects your printer successfully it will begin installing the software.
Most if not all printers I have supported in the last 10 years or so, almost always have a download available on their original equipment manufacture brand websites. Microsoft and Apple operating systems are almost always supported. You should be able to find a printer driver at the very least for most newer printers.
I always install the full suite of software including the driver. This can take quite a bit of time. However, you will be able to possibly copy, fax, print, and scan from your printer, depending on how many features it includes. The all in one Hewlett Packard printers usually include copy, fax, printing, and scanning capability.
You may be asked to register your printer. Also, you may be asked to enter fax information. You may or may not be able to skip these information requests.
Your printer software will finally complete the installation process. You may be asked to sign up to Hewlett Packard instant ink program. This voluntary and you do NOT need to sign up in order to print.
You will still be able to purchase printer cartridges yourself in order to print. These instructions were written for an Ematic 2 in 1 tablet computer with Microsoft Windows 10 operating system to print on a Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 4630 printer. However, you could certainly use these instructions and tips, as a basis point, to install printer software on any computer without an optical drive on most Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh operating systems.

HP Stream won’t let me create a recovery disk or do a reset. How do I create a recovery disk and reset when it won’t do it? Thank you.
There are possible different ways to perform an HP Stream factory restore. One way is to press the volume down button on your HP Stream. Then you press the power button for 3 to 5 seconds.
You should be presented with the startup menu. Choose the F11 factory recovery option. Follow the prompts and perfrom an HP Stream factory recovery.
If those function keys do not work, then try immediately pressing the ESC key on your keyboard after powering on that computer. A startup menu should open. Press your F11 key to begin the HP Stream factory recovery process.
If Microsoft Windows operating system boots normally, you might be able to begin the factory recovery from within windows. If for some reason you are not able to perform an HP Stream factory recovery, then there are other options. It could be that the factory recovery partition is corrupt.
Also, perhaps you do not have the correct function key to take you to the startup menu and or factory recovery menu. Try to find the exact model number HP Stream that you have. Then you will need to perform some Internet searches for the factory recovery instructions for your specific computer.
You could also factory restore your HP Stream by using recovery discs. You may or may NOT have received these with your computer. If your computer is new enough you might be able to order HP recovery discs.
As an added bonus tip, your computer might be too old to order new discs. However, you might be able to use the link above to find out the HP part number for recovery discs. Then you could perform some Internet searches for that HP part number recovery disc set.
You could also look for these HP recovery discs on Amazon, eBay, Craigslist, etc. However, buyer beware as you want to make sure that you are ordering legitimate recovery discs from a legitimate proprietor. When in doubt you could possibly factory recover your HP Stream with Windows 10 operating system by creating recovery media.
You will need a USB flash drive that is at least 4 gigabytes or DVD disc. Also, you will obviously need Microsoft Windows 10 operating system that is functional. Now you want to click the Windows 10 start menu button.
Type “create recovery” without quotations into the text box. Select “Create a recovery drive”. You will want to make certain that your DVD or USB flash drive is inserted or connected.
In order to reinstall Windows 10 operating system. Place a check into the box next to “Backup system files to the recovery drive”. Click “Next” and wait patiently while files are being prepared to get copied to your DVD or USB flash drive.
Choose the drive that you want files copied in an “Available drive(s)” list. Click “Next” and you will receive a warning that all files will be deleted on your media. Press “Create” to begin the recovery media creation.
This can take some time so please be patient. When the creation of your recovery media is completed you will see that the recovery drive is ready. You can click on “Finish”.
Now you will be able to reinstall Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. However, if you are looking for a factory recovery option, using a Microsoft Windows 10 recovery media will NOT factory restore drives and any default applications that came with your computer. Another option available to you is to perform a Microsoft Windows 10 “Reset this PC”.
You can perform a “Reset this PC”. You will have two options. One will allow you to keep all your personal data, but your applications will get removed.
The second option will remove all your personal data and applications. Follow the instructions below if you want to perform a “Reset this PC”.
Left click the Windows 10 start menu button. Click on the “Settings” gear icon. Then choose “Update & Security”.
Now choose “Recovery” then select “Reset this PC”. Click on “Get Started” and choose an option.
Finally, if you are just trying to fix a Microsoft Windows 10 problem, then a “System Restore” might be more beneficial to you. Click the Windows 10 start menu icon in lower left corner. Select Search and type in System Restore.
Click on Create a restore point. A System properties window will open up. You should be in the System protection tab of that window. Click on System Restore.
Another System Restore window will open up. Click on Next. In the next window you will be able to select your restore point.
Also, you can place a check box in the Show more restore points. What you want to choose here is a date and time before you were having your current problem. Choose a restore point back to before you were having your current computer problem(s).
Now you click Next. In order to begin system restore, you select Finish. Your computer will have to reboot in order to restore it back to the restore point that you picked.

All you have to do is connect your external hard drive to your Microsoft windows 10 computer and then format it. Open “File Explorer”. Right click the external drive and choose “Format”.
When purchasing external hard drives, you should first make certain that the one you want to purchase is compatible with your operating system. Some external hard drives are compatible with both Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh operating systems. Some external hard drives are only compatible with one operating system, Microsoft Windows or Apple Macintosh operating system.
You can perform a quick Internet search and find out what operating systems the brand and model of external hard drive is compatible with. If you are shopping at a retail store, look on the outside packaging to see what operating systems this external hard drive is compatible with. This can save you time and possibly money.
Your external hard drive may already be pre formatted. All you would need to do is hook up your external hard drive to your Windows 10 computer and then access it like any other hard drive. However, some external hard drives require that software installed on the drive detects your operating system.
Some external hard drives you have to format the device yourself before you can use them. This is where planning ahead and knowing what you need to do to get your external hard drive functioning could save you time and money. When you do format an external hard drive, just make certain you are formatting the correct device.
You certainly do not want to format the hard drive that has your operating system installed on. Once you do format your external hard drive or are able to access it, then you can read and write to this drive like any other removable media. You can use it to back up your important data.
You could even have automatic backups configured. When in doubt, try educate yourself first about the actual external hard drive that you are wanting to purchase. Purchasing an external hard drive to back up your data is a step in the right direction.
I lecture quite often about how important it is to back up your important data. These instructions were written for Microsoft Windows 10 operating system and a Western Digital Passport Ultra external hard drive. However, you could certainly use these instructions as a basis point for other brand and model external hard drives on Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Another printer problem in the world of information technology. This time an individuals Canon Pixma MG6320 quit working on their Macintosh computer. Here is there initial question quoted verbatim.
My Canon Pixma MG6320 printer will not print. It has a code that says printer is not responding even though it is directly plugged into my computer.
I was not able to find out what exact version of Macintosh operating system they had. However, I will share with you the solution to this predicament. This error message they received of the printer is not responding MAC was visible on their Macintosh computer and not the display on the printer itself.
Remove all instances of printer software from “Applications”. Remove all instances of your printer from “Printers & Scanners”. Download and install the Canon Pixma MG6320 printer software.
Your Macintosh operating system should be automatically detected by browsing the link above. Now you want to make certain that you are on the “Drivers” tab. Under “Recommended Drivers” look for a “CUPS Printer Driver”.
Download and install this printer driver. Hopefully, you should be able to now print successfully. My customer was able to print after following this instructions. If you need to scan, there maybe an “ICA Driver”.
You would just download and install this scanner driver. If you are still not able to print to your Canon Pixma MG6320 after following my instructions, I will give you an additional tip that may fix your problem. Power off your printer.
Disconnect power cable from a wall outlet. Disconnect Universal Serial Bus printer cable from both printer and your computer. Press and hold power button on printer for 30-60 seconds.
Leave that printer disconnected from a power source for 5-10 minutes. Reconnect Universal Serial Bus cable and power cable. Power on your printer and see if it will now print.
If you still cannot printer, after following my first two tips, try installing the Canon Pixma MG6320 software onto a different Macintosh computer. Also, you could install the software onto a Microsoft Windows operating system. You want to use the process of elimination and find out if it is your computer or the actual printer that is the culprit.
If you can now print from another computer, then you have answered your own question. You may be able to manually remove the printer driver from this the following example folder on your Macintosh.
You would just delete or move to the trash that folder. As an added tip, empty the trash can on your Macintosh. On at least one occasion, when installing printer software I kept having the same problem I was working on until I emptied the trash can.
Now you want to go ahead and reinstall the printer software. In severe cases you might have to reinstall the Macintosh operating system in order to print to your Canon MG6320 printer. Hopefully, you will not need to do that.
These instructions were written for a Macintosh computer and a Canon Pixma MG6320 printer. You can certainly use these instructions and tips for other Macintosh operating systems and potential other printers with the same or similar type of error.
I received a question about being able to print on an Epson printer from a chromebook computer. Printing on a chromebook can be a pain in the ass at times. However, with an Epson printer you may be able to print without installing and drivers and or software on your chromebook computer.

I need help with my ability to print.
This individual did NOT tell me what printer brand and model they owned. Also, they were going to connect their printer via a Universal Serial Bus cable. You would just connect your printer to your chromebook with a Universal Serial Bus cable and then use Google Cloud printing.
You will need to login with a Google account. If you login with Youtube and or Gmail, you already have a Google account. If you do NOT have a Google account, you will need to create one.
If you want to print wireless then you will first need to place your printer on the same network as your chromebook. Your IP addresses will be on the same sub network. For example your Epson printer will have an Internet Protocol address of 10.0.0.1 and your chromebook will have an Internet Protocol address of 10.0.0.2.
You will need to know the exact Internet Protocol address from your Epson printer. Then you will enter in this address into a web browser. For example type in 10.0.0.1 into a web browser address bar.
Now select the “Google Cloud Print Services” option. If you do NOT see the Google Cloud Print Services option then try turning off your Epson printer and turning it back on. Once you see Google Cloud Print Services option, click on “Register”.
You will need to agree to the Google usage advisory by placing a check mark in the box next to it. Now you will click on “OK” that will launch the sign in page in a separate window. Type in your Google account username and password and click on “Sign in”. If you do NOT have a Google account, you can go ahead and create one now by clicking on “Sign up For a Google Account”.
Finally, you want to click on “Finish Printer Registration”. You should now be able to print. I would print a test page now. You can print from your chromebook by selecting or clicking on a “Print” option from an application.
For example a web browser. Your Epson printer is now actually linked to your Google account. This allows you to print from any Google Android, Apple device, chromebook, or computer with Internet access.
Printing with a Universal Serial Bus cable is so much easier. Just connect the Universal Serial Bus cable to your printer with the square end. Connect the flat end of the Universal Serial Bus cable to your chromebook.
Then you can print from any application that has a print function. Universal Serial Bus printer cables are not that expensive. You might even be able to find one at a thrift store.
I received a computer related question on a third party website where I earn supplemental income. I received a question pertaining to reinstalling Microsoft Windows 10. Here is the question quoted verbatim.
I have windows 10 on this computer but I don’t have the license number. Can you tell me what it is somehow. I need to reinstall on this machine.
This individual owned a retail version of Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. Microsoft Windows 10 license information is stored on Microsoft’s servers. As long as your current version of Windows 10 is activated, then all you have to do is reinstall Windows 10.
You will not need to reenter the license key. Right click the Windows 10 start menu button. Choose “System”.
Scroll down and then click on “Change product key or upgrade your edtion of Windows” to verify that your version of windows is active. You are NOT actually changing or upgrading. Look for “Windows is activated with a digital license”.
Now all you have to do is install the exact same version of Windows and it will automatically get reactivated. Yes, another way to get there is click on “Activation” tab on left in “Settings”. This individual was able to verify that indeed Microsoft Windows 10 was activated.
The main tip in this blog post is to verify in advance whether or NOT Microsoft Windows 10 is activated. If it is activated then you can reinstall Microsoft Windows 10 on the very same computer for free. However, you must be certain that the computer hardware is the same.
If you replace the motherboard I think you would just have to re type the product license key. Caveat emptor, some Microsoft Windows 10 stickers do not include the certificate of authenticity license key. If your version of Microsoft Windows 10 is NOT activated, you will need this license key.
If you do NOT know it or have it available, there are some tools out on the Internet that may be able to obtain your product activation key from the Microsoft Windows registry. You should always save your Microsoft Windows 10 activation key, just in case something happens and you need it. Computers that you purchase brand new with Microsoft Windows 10 already installed often times have generic Microsoft Windows 10 stickers without the actual product license key.
This is the case because these are considered original equipment manufacture licenses. Microsoft Windows 10 retail licenses are different. You should have received either an email message with the actual product key or a sticker with the product license key.
You should save this email and license key somewhere for safe storage in case you need the product license key. Another tip is that in order to reinstall Microsoft Windows 10 without paying for a new license you must reinstall the exact same version of Microsoft Windows that was previously installed and activated. For example if you had Microsoft Windows 10 professional installed and activated then you would need to reinstall Microsoft windows 10 professional.
As long as your computer has an Internet connection, then your Microsoft Windows 10 copy will automatically become reactivated.
Another computer crisis with Microsoft Windows operating system. This time an individual installed a Microsoft Windows 7 updated, that wreaked havoc. Here is the original initial question quoted verbatim below.

This individual owned an Acer Aspire laptop. However, they did NOT know the operating system they were using. How is this possible in this day and age?
Here is a tip, always find out what operating system you are using. You should always not remain ignorant and know what operating system you have installed. I found out that they had Microsoft Windows 7 installed.
They had tried to remove this latest Windows 7 update. However, they received an error when attempting to remove it. Whenever a Microsoft Windows 7 update fucks up your computer, you can try to perform a system restore.
Try to remember when this problem first started to occur. You want to pick a date back to before you had this problem. Click “Start”, then choose “All Programs”. Select “Accessories”.
Choose “System Tools”. Finally, select “System Restore”. A System properties window will open up.
You should be in the System protection tab of that window. Click on System Restore.
Another System Restore window will open up. Click on Next. In the next window you will be able to select your restore point. Also, you can place a check box in the Show more restore points.
What you want to choose here is a date and time before you were having your current problem. Choose a restore point back to before you were having your current computer problem(s). Now you click Next.
In order to begin system restore, you select Finish. Your computer will have to reboot in order to restore it back to the restore point that you picked. Never interrupt a Microsoft Windows 7 system restore once you click finish.
Do NOT become inpatient and press ctrl alt delete.This individual was able to fix their Microsoft Windows 7 update problem, by performing a system restore. These instructions were written for Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.
You can use this troubleshooting as a basis for troubleshooting other Microsoft Windows operating systems. However, the instructions will NOT be the exact same. When in doubt, try to perform a Microsoft Windows system restore.
You will not lose your personal data when performing a system restore. However, any programs installed after the restore point will become removed.
