Microsoft Patch – The Update is Not Applicable to Your Computer

I received a question from a reader of a Microsoft Security Updates – Servicing Stack Version KB4022405 blog post pertaining to a Microsoft patch. They are receiving this “The update is not applicable to your computer” error message with a Microsft security updates. The only time I recall seeing this error is when I attempted to install a Windows update manually.

“hello in my pc this update gives me an error this update is not applicable in your computer how to fix it”

Also, I was trying to install the incorrect platform version. Meaning I was trying to install a Microsoft patch for x86 processors on a computer with an x64 processor and vice versa. I have never seen this error show up without me trying to manually install an update.

You want to make sure that you are installing updates for the correct version of Windows. Obviously, you cannot install a Microsoft patch for Windows ten on Microsoft windows 7 operating system and vice versa. Also, you want to become certain what type of processor your computer is using.

Try to verify if your computer has an x86 32 bit processor or a x64 64 bit processor. If you attempt to install a Microsoft patch developed for x86 32 bit on a computer with an x64 64 bit processor, you will see this error. In Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 you can view a “System” option in “Control Panel” to see what type of processor your computer whas manufactured with.

Microsoft claims that you may see this error for numerous other reason. One being that a newer update superseded an older update. What this means is that the older update is no longer required, because a newer update took its place so to speak.

You may receive this “The update is not applicable in your computer” error if the update you are trying to install is already installed. I already went over how the Microsoft patch you are trying to install is not correct for the computer architecture. Finally, your computer with Microsoft windows operating system might be missing a prerequisite update.

What this means is that the update you are trying to install, will NOT install because a previous update has to become installed first, before you can install this update that is causing this error.
