I received another computer related question on a third party website whereby I earn supplemental income answering computer and technology related questions. The question is quoted verbatim below.
Having issues with downloading Office 365 for MacBook Pro.
This individual owned a Macintosh computer with Macintosh operating system Mojave 10.14.2 installed. They were trying to upgrade their version of Microsoft Office Excel. They stipulated they were using an older version of Microsoft Office Excel.
They were trying to download and install a newer version of Microsoft Office Excel from the Apple iTunes store. They were having some kind of authentication issue with their Microsoft IDentification. They were not able to install or use Microsoft Office Excel on their Macintosh computer.
I asked if they had tried downloading and installing Microsoft Office Excel from the official Microsoft Office website, which is Office.com. They claimed that they had not. Yes, normally you are supposed to install it from https://office.com.
Log in with a Hotmail, Outlook.com, MSN.com, Skype, etc. account. You will be able download and install from this site. This individual was able to successfully download and install Microsoft Office Excel from Office.com.
When in doubt always try to download and install software from the original developer’s website. There could be many reasons why it will fail from third party websites. These instructions were written for a Macintosh computer with Macintosh operating system Mojave 10.14.2 installed.
You could certainly use this tip to install Microsoft Office suite and not just Excel onto a computer(s) with Microsoft Windows operating system. When in doubt, go directly to Microsoft in this instance.
