Your Asus EEE PC Seashell series netbook is so slow. With 1 gigabyte of Random Access Memory, it is painfully slow. You see that there are two hundred seventy five megabytes of Random Access Memory that is “Reserved” and with only Internet Explorer running taking 600 megabytes, memory usage is always running at 90% plus.
Heaven forbid that you have Microsoft Word or Excel open at same time. You’ve turned off Microsoft and Norton “Auto updates”. Any ideas on how to free up that reserved memory?
You tried a defrag, check disk, stopping auto updates, and other system services. You couldn’t figure out how to reallocate memory.
Have you performed any malware scans at all? I recommend you download and run a free malwarebytes scan. Make sure malwarebytes is updated before you begin that scan. You may need to boot your computer into Windows safe mode with networking.
Also, please download and install free CCleaner after running malwarebytes. Use CCleaner for cleaning your PC and registry cleaning. You may need to run both clean and registry scans more then once.
You might have some malware that your antivirus software is not detecting. Yes I recommend running malwarebytes and ccleaner periodically. That could be malware running in background taking up memory.
This problem may occur because a Maximum memory option is selected incorrectly. To fix this, follow these steps. Click “Start”, then type “msconfig” without quotes in a “Search programs and files” box, and then click “msconfig” in that “Programs” list.
In a “System Configuration” window, click “Advanced” options on a “Boot” tab. Click to clear a “Maximum memory” check box, and then click “OK”. Restart that computer.
Clear a “Maximum” memory” setting by unchecking it’s check box. Click OK. Reboot your computer.
