I finally got around to closing my Yahoo free email account. I have been planning on getting rid of this account for years now. Free email accounts have their advantages and disadvantages.
Also, I am removing my Internet footprint so to speak. It may be productive for you to learn how to host your own email service. You can obtain a virtual private server and host your own email.
There are paid for email service providers. However, I do not necessarily trust them. Anyways, now I am going to discuss how to close Yahoo email account permanently.
At one time you could delete your Yahoo email account via somewhere in your profile and or account settings. When I went to close Yahoo email account permanently, I could not find where to perform this action. It could be buried somewhere in a menu that I did not find.
You can close Yahoo email account permanently now. You will need to login in or already be logged into your Yahoo email account. You will be presented with a lengthy warning page.
If you scroll down to the very bottom of this page, you will see a “Continue delete my account” button. You will be sent to another web page, where you have to type in your Yahoo email address. A “Yes terminate this account” blue button will be visible.
Once you click on that button, you will see a page notifying you that your account has been scheduled for deletion. Your Yahoo account now actually has been deactivated. There is a 30, 90, or 180 day grace period depending on what country you reside in.
This grace period allows you to reactivate your Yahoo email account. I tested this feature, and you are sent a code to your recovery email address associated with your Yahoo email account. Once you enter in this recovery code, you are then required to change your Yahoo email password.
Once you change your Yahoo email password successfully, then you can log into your Yahoo email account. There are some other stipulations that you might want to read over, before you close Yahoo email account permanently.
