A computer repair customer of mine brought me an Acer laptop computer with issues with slowness and sticking keyboard keys. This laptop computer model is the Acer Aspire e1-470p-6659 with Microsoft Windows ten operating system installed. The customer complained of sluggish performance, the operating system freezing, and having to reboot this laptop, in order to temporarily fix the problem.
Also, he showed me some of the integrated laptop keyboard keys were stuck. I advise that you run viruses, spyware, malware, and operating system scans. I use Ccleaner, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, and sometimes Combofix to scan for malware, spyware, and viruses.
This Acer laptop computer would not mount my universal serial bus flash drive. I know this flash drive is healthy because I was able to mount and remount this device on another computer. This is an indication that perhaps there is malware, spyware, viruses, a corrupt windows installation, and or trouble with the hard drive.
Now that I cannot mount a universal serial bus flash drive that has all of my software tools, I will have to download Ccleaner, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, Combofix, and additional anti-virus software from the Internet. I am not able to boot into Microsoft Windows safe mode, because those clowns at Microsoft have disabled the advanced boot options menu in both Microsoft Windows eight and Microsoft Windows ten operating systems. There is a way to enable this menu, you can either go into system settings or perform some tasks before the computer operating system boots.
I prefer to perform malware, spyware, and virus remediation in Microsoft Windows safe mode. However, I will run these program scans in normal Microsoft Windows mode. Also, I run check disk and system file check scans as part of diagnosing a slow computer.
You can kick off one or both of these commands at a command prompt with administrative rights.

When running the chkdsk command, you want to type a Y for yes when warned about a file that is in use message. You will need to reboot your computer in order for a disk check scan to begin. Depending on the size and health of your hard drive, a disk check scan can take hours to complete.
Finally, I ran an anti-virus scan. You can try Avast or the Anti-Virus Guard software, but you can certainly use any antivirus you prefer. Also, you may not be able to download or install any anti-virus software package on a really problematic computer. That is when you might have to use Microsoft’s built-in Windows defender software program.
If you are having problems mounting a flash drive, downloading software, installing software, getting Microsoft Windows safe mode to work, etc. you may need to burn a compact disc read only memory with a portable anti-virus version of software. During my Acer laptop computer troubleshooting the slowness issue, both Malwarebytes and Superantispyware did not detect any negative objects. Also, I could not install Combofix on Microsoft Windows ten operating system as this program does not support Microsoft Windows ten operating system yet.
Also, I noticed both C and M keyboard keys stuck and failed to work the first time I tapped them. This could be a hardware drivers issue, but I am leaning towards a possible loose ribbon cable or even a failing integrated laptop keyboard. I am going to enable the Microsoft Windows ten advanced boot options menu, so that I can see if booting into Microsoft Windows safe mode will allow the keyboard to work properly.
This would indicate a drivers issue when Microsoft Windows ten boots into normal mode. The last thing I will do is to reseat the current integrated onboard laptop keyboard ribbon cable that attaches to the motherboard. Also, I will test the hard drive for failure and or bad sectors if an anti-virus scan does not detect any viruses.
Also, if the disk check scan does not fix these issues, then reinstalling the operating system on the hard drive after it tests without failure will be the final solution. If you need to boot into Microsoft Windows ten safe mode, you can follow these instructions. Microsoft removed the F8 advanced boot options menu.
Go into "Settings". Select "Update & Security". Now choose "Recovery".
Open the "Recovery Settings". Look under "Advanced startup". Now choose "Restart now".
Another way to enter Microsoft Windows ten safe mode, is by turning on the computer power. At the first sign of a Microsoft Windows operating system booting, press and hold the power button for ten seconds. Repeat this same process two more times.
You will repeat this process a total of three times, then Microsoft Windows will boot into a recovery environment.
