Acer Laptop Computer – Aspire E1-470P-6659 Hard Drive Removal

I just received an Acer laptop computer with major Microsoft Windows operating system problems. This Acer Aspire E1-470P-6659 laptop computer had a Microsoft Windows 10 home edition operating system installed. I concluded that the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system was corrupted to the point I needed to reinstall this operating system.

The customer had some very important data they needed to recover off their hard drive. These are the instructions you can follow to take out the hard drive for data recovery purposes. There are twenty-one screws that you will need to take out.

This Acer laptop computer has just one bottom cover that you must remove. Also, you will need to take out the battery. The Acer laptop computer battery has a release hole near it.

You place a screwdriver or possibly a paper clip into this hole and then push in the opposite direction to release the battery. Once this laptop computer battery is removed, there are two smaller screws that you must remove underneath the battery. Now, once you have all twenty-one screws removed, you can pry apart the bottom cover from the laptop computer base.

You might need a computer pick or even a guitar pick to help you separate the two plastic pieces. I do not recommend that you use any type of metal screwdriver, as you will most likely start scratching up the plastic case. Also, you want to carefully remove the back cover and not to just rip apart the back cover.

You see the Acer laptop keyboard and mouse pad are connected to the motherboard with two ribbon cables. If you pull apart the bottom laptop cover too much, you might damage one or both of these ribbon cables. I was able to extract the hard drive without removing the keyboard or mouse pad.

The serial advanced technology attachment hard drive was attached with a serial advanced technology attachment hard drive adapter cable. You will want to pull the hard drive out of its location and then pull off this adapter. You have just successfully removed the hard drive from an Acer Aspire E1-470P-6659 laptop computer.

Your next step would include mounting this hard drive onto another computer if you choose to perform the data recovery yourself. Since it is a serial advanced technology attachment hard drive, you could install it into a hard drive enclosure. Then connect it to your computer with the universal serial bus end of the cable.

Another way to mount this serial advanced technology attachment hard drive is to install onto a desktop computer. Did you know that you could actually install this type of hard drive onto a desktop computer? Yes, you can definitely perform this task with a desktop computer.

If you decide to install a serial advanced technology attachment hard drive onto a desktop computer, you will want to make sure you mount it correctly so that this hard drive does not move. On occasion, desktop computers come with 2.5 inch mounting slots. Proverbial desktop serial advanced technology attachment hard drives are 3.5 inches wide.

If your desktop computer does not include the skinnier 2.5 inch mounting slots, you can try to find a place inside the computer case where you can mount this laptop's hard drive. I have mounted laptop hard drives onto desktop computer cases for years and always try to affix the hard drive with at least two screws. If using the included 2.5 inch wide mounting slot, try to affix this laptop hard drive with two to four screws.

You do not want this hard drive to move while it is powered on. Now your next step would be to recover the data. There are many different ways to recover computer data from a laptop hard drive.
