Blackweb Wireless DPI Mouse Review

I ran into another disaster in information technology. This time I had purchased a Blackweb wireless mouse from a local Walmart store. I paid $11.94 not including tax for this wireless mouse.

However, I dropped it one time from a table at a motel I was staying at. The floor was a hardwood floor. Well this mouse quit working after that one drop to the floor.

I then proceeded to take this mouse apart to try to fix it. What happaned was that a small piece of plastic broke off from the mouse wheel. There are two small pieces of plastic on both sides of the scroll mouse wheel, that interact with the functioning of this mouse.

This fatal drop caused the demise of this Blackweb wireless mouse. Mice and keyboards to me should be able to sustain drops. I am not talking about throwing and or slamming a mouse or keyboard.

I am talking about simple innocent accidental drops of mice and or keyboards. I tried fixing this missing plastic piece with electrical tape to no avail. I only spent $11.94 for this wireless mouse so it was not worth my time and or effort to salvage this Blackweb wireless mouse.

This mouse is compatible with the following operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows seven
  • Microsoft Windows eight
  • Microsoft Windows ten
  • Apple Macintosh operating system version 10.5 Leopard and Newer

I was able to use this mouse with MX Linux 18.3, which is a Debian distribution derivation, even though the product guide does not mention Linux.

This mouse comes with the following buttons:

  • Left Button
  • Right Button
  • Scrool Wheel
  • Forward Button
  • Backward Button
  • DPI Switch
  • Connect Button
  • On and Off Switch

This Blackweb wireless mouse also comes with a universal serial bus nano antenna receiver. This wireless mouse also came with a single double AA battery. A silver Energizer brand double AA battery was included.

I thought this was a nice touch. I hate those batteries not included products. This wireless mouse has five different dots per inch settings that I did not fiddle with.

Setting up and using this mouse on Linux no less was easy. You just take the back battery cover off and then install the included AA battery. Then you connect the universal serial bus antenna receiver to your computer.

Now you turn the wireless mouse on with the on off switch. Voila, I was controlling my Linux computer with this mouse. It just sucks that one drop was fatal.

This mouse connected automatically to the universal serial bus antenna receiver, so I did not need to use the connect button.

Blackweb Wireless DPI Mouse – Review Video Transcript

00:00
this is my review video pertaining to
00:02
this mouse that I purchased at Walmart
00:07
that I promised I was going to make it
00:09
is black web is the brand this is the
00:12
original packaging and still includes
00:15
the mouse the Wi-Fi USB and Tanna is
00:21
gone because I you know got rid of it
00:23
but it didn’t it did include it quickly
00:26
we’ll just go over the packaging it
00:27
turned into a total disaster I’ll just
00:29
fucking tell you right now I dropped
00:32
this mouse one time on either probably
00:36
real hardwood floor or synthetic at a
00:38
motel
00:40
and it quit working and I will show you
00:42
bite quit working because it fucking
00:44
broke it was a it was probably a table
00:47
table height it wasn’t it’s not like
00:50
they you know no it was either I think
00:53
it was on a table and it fell off and it
00:56
never worked after that all right so
00:59
it’s a black web 6 button wireless
01:01
fabric covered Mouse with five dpi
01:04
levels what else
01:09
contoured for comfort with the soft
01:12
sleek cover it’s USB Universal serious
01:15
bus is plug and play
01:22
oh it comes with the the receiver which
01:24
is the antenna and that is stored inside
01:29
the mouse when it’s not in use but when
01:32
you first get it it comes right there
01:34
it’s right there if you when you buy it
01:37
new 30-foot range wireless RF it uses it
01:45
doesn’t use bluetooth it uses the old
01:46
school RF five dpi levels it is
01:53
compatible with personal computers and
01:56
Mac and crap wind blows and also Linux I
01:59
actually use this on Linux and it worked
02:02
well it worked just fine for a while
02:05
it requires batteries one double-a
02:08
battery and it was included battery you
02:10
know that bullshit the cheap
02:12
capitalistic whores batteries not
02:15
included
02:16
Wow but this one actually came with a
02:18
battery I still have it I think where I
02:23
I still have it it’s a silver battery
02:26
it’s a double e if I I’m a limb trying
02:30
to think where it it’s in it’s in that
02:31
tub
02:32
I think anyways so I’m going to I’m
02:36
going to show you the package with the
02:37
mouse real quick
03:04
okay so now I’m gonna take it out of its
03:08
packaging again I saved it to make this
03:10
video because this would turn into a
03:12
fucking utter disaster
03:14
I paid eleven I have the receipt
03:17
somewhere I paid like 11:30 for $11.34
03:23
for it or something like that at Walmart
03:25
and including not including taxes and I
03:30
dropped it once and it quit working and
03:32
I was like you gotta be fucking kidding
03:35
me no I didn’t throw it I didn’t you
03:37
know slam it down or I didn’t throw it
03:39
it fell off like the table that I was
03:41
using alright so let’s open up this
03:46
Janka tea packaging it’s a I mean it
03:52
looked like a decent Mouse
03:57
and here here’s the mouse itself and the
04:02
packaging and all that that comes with
04:04
it it comes with a small little product
04:10
guy but there’s really not much to it
04:12
you know where I’m sits a mouse so what
04:15
it doesn’t even tell you if you drop it
04:20
it will not work yeah it actually does
04:25
it has description Windows 7 Windows 8
04:28
Windows 10 Mac OS 10.5 or later and it
04:32
works on Linux I’m using MX Linux
04:34
night at the time it was eighteen point
04:37
three left button right button scroll
04:40
wheel forward backward dpi switch key
04:44
nano receiver which is the wireless
04:46
receiver USB battery cover connect
04:49
button off on switch okay
04:55
forward-backward DPS which I didn’t fuck
04:58
with the DPS which it has a little
05:00
compartment where the battery and then
05:03
also the antenna fit the USB antenna all
05:07
right
05:09
wireless mouse down a receiver one
05:11
double a battery user’s manual yeah all
05:14
right so I didn’t even read the little
05:17
guide but yeah so it has this little
05:20
plastic door you just stick your your
05:24
fingernail in or whatever and just pull
05:26
out and there it comes off so it’s just
05:29
like that alright now I mean I can yeah
05:37
when I first started using I was like I
05:40
don’t know the scroll wheel is a bit
05:43
it’s really not it kind of moves you can
05:48
feel it move which is okay but when you
05:53
take it apart a pretty cheap plastic and
05:56
then it has a dpi button but I never
05:59
fuck with it and then it’s got it’s got
06:02
left and right buttons when you press
06:05
down it has two side buttons I never I
06:08
never use those but whatever and then
06:11
the battery fits in there and then it’s
06:15
got the compartment for the antenna the
06:18
USB nano receiver
06:35
all right and then
06:41
okay the lighting in here isn’t the best
06:44
for these kind of demonstrations but I
06:46
don’t fucking care now I took it apart
06:51
there were I’m trying to think there was
06:54
at least one screw – there were two
06:58
small screws there’s little little
07:01
plastic that has blue on it to hide the
07:05
screw holes and then was there another
07:08
one you know behind here yeah there were
07:11
four so that there’s this plastic piece
07:14
with glue on it to hide the screws I
07:18
just I’ve worked on you know computed
07:22
you know computers for decades now so
07:25
it’s like most mice are are held with
07:29
screws and a lot of times they’re hidden
07:32
behind little pieces of plastic or
07:35
rubber that have glue so I took it apart
07:39
and then it just lifts off and then I’m
07:42
gonna show you I should be able to show
07:44
let me describe it first oh you know
07:46
what so here’s the scroll wheel it’s
07:50
painted with that false to make it look
07:57
like it’s shiny and all that but I’ve
07:59
noticed that plastic that’s painted like
08:01
that a lot of times it’s not very good
08:04
it’s not very strong so here’s the wheel
08:08
and then I will the one it’s got two
08:13
little pieces of plastic on each side
08:16
that sits down and that they fit into
08:21
this other
08:26
then they kind of fit in and then as the
08:30
the scroll mouse wheel moves its you
08:36
know connected to the left and the right
08:38
mice and then also the scroll well it
08:42
broke off one side broke off and I’ll
08:44
show it to you
09:05
so did you should have noticed the green
09:08
the little green has painted green now
09:10
that this I didn’t break off the other
09:13
one did so this little piece of plastic
09:17
I think yeah it broke off and you even
09:22
though I dropped the mouse about I don’t
09:24
know five feet off the floor
09:27
I dropped it once and it quit working it
09:29
is because this other side of the wheel
09:32
the little tab broke off and then it
09:36
fucked nothing you know
09:38
well it’s war it’s it’s useless because
09:40
it’s this on the scroll wheel I was like
09:44
man so sometimes you do get what you pay
09:47
for but the rest of the mouse is is if
09:51
you yeah if you have an old mouse you
09:53
might want to take them apart just a
09:56
reverse engineer and see how they work
09:59
so this is what it looks like without
10:00
the cover and it’s got a circuit board
10:03
and it’s got a power cable it’s got two
10:07
small boards actually
10:28
alright well that is my review of this
10:31
mouse because it doesn’t work man I
10:36
tried to fix it I tried to like tape you
10:40
know try it too I I had the little piece
10:43
that broke off
10:44
I lost it somewhere it actually kind of
10:48
yeah completely broke off I had it in
10:51
the packaging and I lost it or I might
10:53
have thrown it away I might have
10:54
forgotten about it I wanted to show you
10:56
you know that it did break off on the
11:00
one side of the wheel and I tried to fix
11:05
it I tried to tape it back to hold it it
11:10
wouldn’t it wouldn’t spin right you
11:12
might be able to glue it probably yeah
11:15
if you had some superglue but the mouse
11:17
is only $11 so I was like you know what
11:19
by the time I fucking you know I don’t
11:22
have superglue but to spend the time
11:25
trying if that he would even work you
11:28
could proud you might if you’re good
11:30
with electronics and plastics you might
11:33
be able to heat it up and then you know
11:36
like on a circuit board you can you do
11:39
know that you can fix your own circuit
11:40
boards your mother goes out motherboard
11:43
goes out it could be because of anyways
11:46
I don’t want to digress too much but if
11:48
you know how to solder you could soldier
11:51
in you might be able to you know heat it
11:54
up and get some plastic or something
11:57
some light he so heat it up and then
12:01
stick it on there or a superglue and
12:03
hold it hold it right or let leave it
12:06
let it dry I don’t know if if I draw if
12:10
all’s I did here I’ll demonstrate I
12:15
don’t want to scratch now this is
12:16
synthetic flooring here is similar to
12:19
what the other floor that I think that
12:21
was real a hardwood floor this is I
12:23
think synthetic I don’t think this mouse
12:25
is gonna scratch up this hotel room so
12:30
what I’m going to do is
12:31
I can even what I can do is I don’t want
12:35
to scratch up the floor is I’m going to
12:39
put this little cover back on come on
12:44
bitch
12:48
there it goes and we will put the
12:51
cardboard down on the floor and this is
12:55
about the yeah this is about how high it
12:57
was well it broke oh well fuck Chet if
13:04
if if it can’t if the mouse wheel can’t
13:08
survive that drop then how the fuck are
13:14
you gonna fix it I’m just not I’m not
13:18
you know alright so there is my review
13:25
video of the black web that I found I
13:29
purchased this at Walmart the black web
13:33
mouse that it looked kind of nice my
13:38
next video I think I don’t know I don’t
13:41
lie intentionally I bought another Mouse
13:44
or wireless mouse the onn brand from the
13:49
same Walmart for Less $8 $9 and that one
13:54
works just great
13:56
now I don’t intentionally try it drop
13:59
mice I don’t throw you don’t want to
14:02
throw no you never want to throw around
14:05
you know mice and keyboard but to me a
14:09
keyboard and a mouse it should survive a
14:13
drop a slam or throw no but a drop this
14:23
should survive that oh my god I’m not –
14:28
it’s only $11 I don’t know if I could
14:32
even get a warranty
14:33
you know return it with the warranty
14:36
because they’d be yeah well goddamn it
14:37
Aaron you fucking brought it we’re not
14:40
we’re not gonna return your money
14:42
goddamn it Aaron
14:44
well well Jesus Christ our and ideals I
14:48
think my next video will be about the
14:50
other wireless mouse that works just
14:52
great and I’ll actually like it I don’t
14:55
like Wireless mice adios
