Did the Groove Music application on Microsoft Windows ten operating system quit working after a recent Microsoft Windows ten update on November eight two thousand sixteen on your computer?. Quite frankly I could care less if this application works or not as I do not use it. However, I thought I would try to fix this problem and found some potential solutions to fix Groove Music application on Microsoft Windows ten operating system.
On this Microsoft Windows ten operating system based computer, Groove Music software application program attempts to open, but closes after a few seconds. The first troubleshooting item I tried, was to make sure that my system date and time were correct. You can click on the Microsoft Windows operating system start menu button, then select "Settings".
In "Settings" you will want to choose “Time & language”. You will want to make sure that your time is correct. Also, you can make certain your day, month, year, and timezone are set correctly.
Now, you can try to see if Groove Music software application will open properly. If that does not fix your Groove Music not opening problem, a second possible solution is to perform a system file check scan. You can right click the Microsoft Windows ten operating system start menu button and choose “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
In a black command prompt window, you will want to type in:
sfc /scannow
Aftering permforing a Microsoft Windows ten operating system system file check scan, hopefully that will allow that Groove Music software to open properly. If not you can attempt to delete libraries from the Microsoft Windows ten operating system by using file explorer. You will want to left click a yellow file explorer icon in your task bar. You can then look for Libraries on the left hand side.
If you do not see them, then you can click on “View” then “Navigation Pane”. Now you will want to choose “Show Libraries”. Under Libraries you want to delete documents, music, pictures, videos by right clicking and selecting “Delete” for each one.
This step does not actually delete these items from your computer, it just deletes these items from a libraries feature. You can right click Libraries and select “Restore default libraries”. Now you will want to try to open “Groove Music” software program.
None of these a fore mentioned troubleshooting steps worked for me. However, this next step did resolve the Groove Music software not opening in Microsoft Windows ten operating system. You can attempt to remove and install that Groove Music software again by using the Microsoft Windows ten operating system power shell.
You will want to click on the Cortana search icon. Then you can type in “Power Shell” in that search bar. You will want to select the very first option “Windows Power Shell”.
In that blue power shell window, you can type in or copy and paste the following command, in order to remove Groove Music software from Microsoft Windows ten operating system:
Get-AppxPackage *zunemusic* | Remove-AppxPackage
Once this command finishes and Groove Music software disappears from both your start menu and a tile, then you will need to type in following command to install Groove Music software again:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
Once again, you will want to wait for this command to finish and for Groove Music software to show up in Microsoft Windows ten start menu. In order to add Groove Music as a tile again, I had to right click the “Groove Music” icon from the Microsoft Windows ten operating system start menu and select “Pin to start”. The Groove Music software successfully opened up the first time I tried, after removing and installing this software again.
