IBM Thinkpad T42 Drivers For Windows XP – T42 Factory Recovery

If you have an International Business Machines Thinkpad model T42 laptop computer and receive this error message “operating system not found” you may have become bewildered, perplexed, etcetera. Actually, you purchased rescue and recovery software, but that software program came with no directions, including eight discs in all. Can you walk me through the factory recovery process you ask?

The first troubleshooting step is to find out if your International Business Machines laptop computer detect your hard drive still. You can enter into that laptop computer's basic input output system, but if it is not detected you will not be able to install that rescue and recovery software. How bout I walk you through using those rescue recovery discs first.

You will want to place the first recovery disc into your compact disc read only memor or digital video disc drive. Then you will need to power on that laptop computer and as soon as you see that International Business Machines logo display on screen, you will want to press your F12 function key to get into a boot menu. Then you can choose your compact disc read only memory, digital video disc, or optical drive.

As long as you did not change your boot order you do not need to make any changes. You will want to place that first recovery disc into your compact disc read only memory or digital video disc drive. Then you can power on that laptop computer and as soon as you see a International Business Machines logo, begin to press your F12 function key to enter into a boot menu.

You will want to choose your compact disc read only memory, digital video disc, or optical drive. You can then press your F12 function key before that Microsoft Windows operating system attempts to boot. You can try to use a rescue and recovery disc.

If your F12 function key does not work, you can try to use the F1 function key or Esc key. Also, do you have any important data on your hard drive that you want to keep? You may want to choose a restore factory contents option.

As long as you do not have any important data, that option will format your hard drive and install Microsoft Windows operating system back to when you originally bought that laptop computer. You will want to try booting off the first of seven recovery compact discs you have in your possession. Did your International Business Machines laptop computer attempt to boot off that first compact disc?

You should be able to vies a blue International Business Machines button. Then you will want to power on that laptop computer and immediately press that blue button. It should boot up into a recovery menu.

What options are available in that recovery menu? You will want to press your F12 function key. Then you can Choose DVD for digital video disc.

Now you will need to power off that International Business Machines laptop computer or reboot it and when an IBM logo displays on screen, you can press your F11 function key. You may need to erase that hard drive, so that those recovery discs will work, if your having any problems getting them to install a Microsoft Windows operating system back to factory default settings.
