Mozilla Thunderbird email client does not actually have the ability to block specific email addresses and internet website domains. I find this fact a bit perplexing. It is almost as if Mozilla wants you to read spam, junk, etcetera. email messages.
I am going to describe how you can create a filter that will automatically move email messages you no longer want to view. You can either right click an existing email message on the subject line and choose Create Filter From.... Also, you can choose Message Filters from the Tools menu in Mozilla Thunderbird email client software.
In the top box, you can enter in a filter name so that you will know what email messages you are filtering. You can enter in the actual subject line as a reminder. For example you can type in this filter name.

You do not need to change any of the first five settings. You can skip down to the Match all of the following drop down menu list. You will want to choose Subject. Then you can choose contains in the next drop down list to the right.
Now you will want to verify that the text in the last box matches this text.

You will want to make sure that the text in this box matches the subject of the email messages that you want to filter. This text must be entered in correctly as this type of match is verbatim. Even a spelling mistake will cause your filter not to work correctly.
Now you will want to select Move Message to under this perform these actions: drop down list. Finally, you can click on the choose folder drop down list. You can choose your final destination for these email messages. You can even select your trash as a folder.
If you have multiple email accounts configured with Mozilla Thunderbird email client software, you will want to choose the correct email account folder destination. Now you will want to click on OK. You will see a Run Now option.
When you click on run now, your filter will be ran. If your filter is configured correctly, that email message you choose to filter will disappear from your inbox and moved to whichever folder you specified. For example you will want to look in your trash folder for the correct email account that you choose as the final destination.
If that email message does not disappear, then your filter was not configured correctly. Once your filter is configured correctly, your filter is automated. Any email message matching this filter will be moved to your trash.
You can use filters as a way to prevent from reading spam, junk, etcetera type of email messages. If you wanted to filter out email messages from a specific email address, you would choose From instead of subject. Then choose Contains again.
Obviously, you would enter in an email address instead of a subject. You can test your filter with the run now button. Now you will never be bothered with any email messages from your husband or wife.
You can use these Mozilla Thunderbird email client filters not only for automating the deletion of not wanted email messages. For example junk, spam, soliciations, etcetera. However, you can filter messages you want to keep.
You would direct Mozilla Thunderbird email client to move or even copy email message(s) to a specific destination folder.
