Another information technology related problemo in the world order. This time a printer caused some chaos. This is the original question quoted verbatim from a third party website where by I answer computer and technology related questions.
I have a Canon MX490 printer, which no longer will print. I continue to get a message on my computer that the printer is offline. I have done the setup over and over and receive a message on the printer that it is connected, but it will still not print.
When I try to print with the universal serial bus cable instead of by wifi, I get the same message.
An additional question was asked seeking additional information from this individual.
How are you connecting to your Canon MX490 printer, wirelessly or by universal serial bus cable?
This is the individuals response.
I have tried both, but I always have used wifi before. I have a new wifi provider and did the setup, but does not work.
Another question seeking information was required.
When did you last update the printer driver software?
This was the individuals response to a further question.
Thought I did it last week when trying to deal with this, but not sure.
This question and answer session continues.
What operating system are you using? For example Apple Macintosh 10.11 El Capitan, 10.12 Sierra, 10.13 High Sierra, 10.14 Mojave, Microsoft Windows seven, eight, ten, or eleven operating system.
One final response to this question and answer session.
I am running Microsoft Windows ten on a Google Chrome.
I was a bit perplexed by that last response. I think they may have been referring to Google Chrome web browser or perhaps Google Chrome operating system. You can install Microsoft Windows ten operating system on a Google Chromebook computer.
However, it requires using parellels software and may not be a standard install. Anyways, finally I will give you a response that very likely fixed this individuals printer quagmire. I receive compensation on a thirdy party website where by I respond to information technology problem requests.
You can power off your Canon printer. You will want to disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet. Now you can disconnect the universal serial bus printer cable from both your printer and computer.
Then you will want to press and hold the power button on your printer for thirty to sixty seconds. Next you can leave your printer disconnected from power for five to ten minutes. Then you can connect the universal serial bus cable and power cable again.
You will want to power on your printer and see if it will now print. If that does not fix your problem, then you can follow these instructions. You will want to remove the printer software from Apps & Features in Microsoft Windows ten operating system settings.
Then you need to remove the printer from Printers & scanners. Now you will want to type the following command into a run box:
printui /s /t2
Then you can select your printer and click on Remove.... Now you will want to select Remove driver and driver package. Then click OK.
Now you will want to click on Yes. Then you can click on Delete. You will want to download and install the printer driver and software again from this Canon MX490 printer uniform resource locator web page link.
This individual did not respond, which most likely means this solution solved their printer problem. These instructions were written for Microsoft Windows ten operating system with a Canon Pixma MX490 printer attached. However, you could possibly use them as a basis point for other Canon printer models and other Microsoft Windows operating systems.
